Water Services Bylaw 2010
The Water Services Bylaw was adopted by Council on 10 February 2010.
Te Kuiti Wastewater Treatment Plant
The upgrade of the Te Kuiti Wastewater Treatment Plant (TKWWTP) was completed in 2013 and is one of the largest infrastructure projects undertaken in our district. The upgrade was essential to support public health outcomes and ensure compliance with the resource consent application.
The upgrade included the implementation of treatment processes to enhance the overall function of the Plant which is capable of complying with future strict resource consent conditions.
Piopio Sewerage Scheme
Council provides a sewerage network for Piopio, to ensure the effective disposal of sewage in an environmentally sustainable manner and to protect public health. The onsite wastewater systems became operational in 2012.
The systems are similar to a septic tank; the grey water (from the washing machine and kitchen sink etc) is diverted by means of a small pump. This ensures that the sewage can be treated effectively and that the collection capacity of the system is not reduced.
All the necessary precautions that are generally observed for a private septic tank system, should be adhered to by all Piopio property owners connected to an onsite wastewater system. Click here to read information about your properties’ on-site wastewater system. (PDF, 165 Kb)
