Public Health and Safety

Council administers a range of licensing services to assist safer health outcomes for the Waitomo District Community. The Council has specific statutory responsibilities to act to ensure that certain health requirements are met by the operators of business premises and in doing so protect public health and safety.

For that reason certain businesses are required to be licensed under the Health Act, these include;

  • Hairdressers
  • Funeral Directors
  • Camping Grounds
  • Hawkers
  • Itinerant Traders
  • Mobile Shops
  • Saleyards

If you have any concerns relating to an Environmental Health issue or would simply like to discuss Council's role in environmental protection, feel free to contact Council's Environmental Health Officer on (07) 878 0800.
