The Council is authorised by the Resource Management Act 1991, to control excessive or unreasonable noise.

Excessive noise, during the night and weekends arising from social functions or private dwellings, can be a real community problem.

In such circumstances the public are able to contact the Waitomo District Council on a dedicated after hours number (0800 932 4357) and an Officer will investigate and if appropriate take action to resolve the excessive noise nuisance on behalf of Council.
