The focus of the Discretionary Grants Fund is in providing community assistance for the 'not for profit' sector in order to create a strong social base and meet local needs. The dollar value of each grant will be determined on a case by case basis during each funding round.
Grants are of a 'one-off' nature and are not intended to form part of any any ongoing financial support relationship with Council. The call for applications for discretionary grants fund are advertised in the Waitomo News on a regular basis and applications are considered and determined on a quarterly basis.
Organisations can only apply for funding once in any given financial year.
The purpose for the grants may include:
- Administration and operational costs
- Training costs for personnel
- Initial project costs
- Public education events
- Non capital items
Organisations considering applying for funding should read the Community Development Fund Policy to ensure that they understand and meet the eligibility criteria prior to lodging an application.
