Waitomo District Council’s Benneydale toilet a finalist in best loo award

Thursday, 16 August 2018

Finalists for the Keep New Zealand Beautiful Awards 2018 have just been released and Waitomo District Council is proud to be announced as a finalist for the Best Loo Award!

The Best Loo Award, proudly sponsored by Plumbing World, recognises the best public loo in the country. Judges take into consideration the location, facilities, cleanliness, interior, exterior and the surrounding environment of the loo.

Benneydale’s public toilets are located in a picturesque location in a rest area under mature trees with picnic tables for travelers to utilize.

The toilets themselves are of concrete panel construction and consist of male and female toilets and also a unisex disabled facility.

The finishing of the external walls is one of the key highlights of this loo. It is has a full wrap around artists rendition of The Timber Trail; located 18km east of Benneydale, in the Pureora Forest Park.

The Benneydale Loo’s are a must see.

WDC’s Infrastructure Manager Property Quin Powell says that the community of Benneydale is thrilled to be a finalist for this quirky award.

“We love the artist’s rendition of The Timber Trail. It catches the eye when passing by and encourages travelers to stop in town.”

The winners will be announced, at the Beautiful Awards Gala Dinner, in Auckland, on Friday 26 October. We would love to see as much support for The Benneydale Loo as possible! If you’d like to purchase tickets, the information can be found here.
