Our key focus for the next ten years is to enhance our community development initiatives, and shape Waitomo into a place that is safe, welcoming, encourages business development, and supports well-connected communities.

We would like to hear your views on the proposed plan and the key matters of the Consultation Document (CD). 

Consultation takes place from today Thursday 5 April 2018 to 5pm Friday 4 May 2018.

The CD has been included in this edition of the Waitomo News. Alternatively, you can provide your feedback online by visiting www.waitomo.govt.nz/shapeWaitomo

The Consultation Document is available at the following locations:

The CD is not a summary of everything we’re planning to do in the next ten years.

Your Elected Members would like to hear what you think about our plan. Come and discuss your views at the planned meetings for:

  • Marokopa: Sunday 15th April 2018 at 10.30am at the Coast Sport and Rec. Centre, Carley Reeve Drive Marokopa. 
  • Benneydale: Tuesday 17th April 2018 at 7.30pm at the Benneydale Hall, Maniaiti Road Benneydale. 
  • Te Kuiti: Monday 23rd April 2018 at 7.00pm at the Les Munro Centre, King Street East, Te Kuiti. 
  • Piopio: Thursday 26th April 2018 at 7.00pm at the Piopio Memorial Hall, Corner Moa Street and Weka Street, Piopio.

Consultation for the Proposed Solid Waste (asset) Management and Minimisation Plan 2018 incorporating the 2017 Waste Assessment

Waitomo District Council’s Statement of Proposal for the Proposed Solid Waste (asset) Management and Minimisation Plan will be available for public consultation from Thursday 5 April 2018 until 5pm on Friday 4 May 2018, in accordance with the special consultative procedure of the Local Government Act 2002.

Council must review the Plan at least every six years, and seek the public’s view on the proposal. WDC’s current Plan was adopted by Council after public consultation in 2012.

Anyone can make a submission and we encourage you to tell us your views.

The Statement of Proposal and the Proposed Solid Waste (asset) Management and Minimisation Plan, along with a submission form is available from:
