The build phase has managed to make up most of the delay that occurred due to the extraordinary wet weather conditions that prevailed through much of the winter season, which also caused delays to the supply date for some building materials.
The stadium build is nearly complete with the building framework, glazing, roof and linings finished. The internal building services, plumbing and drainage and electrical have also installed. The sports flooring and court marking is finished and the basketball goals and digital clocks/scoreboards are in place.
The joinery fit-out for the kitchen/office areas is scheduled for the first week of December, along with wall cladding flashings, testing and commissioning of services, and installation of cultural artwork. Carpark/landscaping is well advanced, with asphalting and line marking delayed by heavy rain mid-November and now rescheduled.

Waitomo District Council is pleased to announce Belgravia Leisure as the operating partner for the new Indoor Sport and Recreation Centre in Te Kūiti.

Belgravia Leisure’s CEO Nick Cox says Belgravia Leisure is honoured to be appointed manager and operator for the Indoor Sport and Recreation Centre.

The stadium is now fully enclosed with the exterior roof and wall cladding in place. External windows and doors have been installed and glazed with internal wall linings well underway.
The main entrance door has been installed. Installation of the main gymnasium timber sports flooring is underway. The new 1.8m high boundary fence has been completed.
Installation of sports equipment in the main gymnasium is underway including basketball hoops being installed.
Target completion date for the construction phase remains mid-November with code compliance expected by late December.

The build phase is tracking approximately 1 week behind the critical path programme due to delays in the supply date for some building materials, and the recent inclement weather.
Internal framing for the amenities area has been completed. The external windows and doors have been installed. The main entrance door has been installed.
Installation of roof purlins and girts is now completed. The new 1.8m high close-boarded boundary fence adjacent to the southern boundary of the stadium is near completion. The new entrance road is under construction.
The carpark construction is well advanced with placement and shaping of basecourse to finish level underway.
The gymnasium roof has been completed and the base roofing sheet over the court area commenced. Building construction work is now under a roof covering.

The build phase is tracking approximately 3 weeks behind programme due to delays in the supply date for some building materials, and the recent inclement weather. Approximately 150mm of rain has been recorded on site over the first 15 days of July.
The roof over the amenities area has been installed and interior timber framing commenced.
The gymnasium concrete floor was poured on 16 July 2022 and work has begun on installing purlins and girts to the roof structure.
The carpark construction is well advanced and the new entrance road is under construction.
Exterior framing and the installation of steel framing for the gymnasium storeroom has been completed.
A plan for the cultural artwork has been drafted and costed.

The build phase is tracking to programme apart from the supply date for some building materials, and delays brought about by recent inclement weather. Approximately 135mm of rain was recorded on site over the first 10 days of June.
The current delay to the overall programme is approximately two weeks. The contractor is hoping to make that time up with better progress on other construction items, particularly once the roof is constructed and the build moves under cover. Work on the roof has commenced.
The carpark sub-base construction is well advanced with placement and shaping of basecourse to finish levels underway along with associated surface drainage (under review). Installation of steel framing to the gymnasium area is well underway and formwork to the perimeter of the amenities area is progressing. Pouring of the concrete amenities slab has been completed as has installation of the precast panels.
A plan for the cultural artwork has been drafted and is currently being costed.

Construction of the new indoor sports stadium is coming along nicely!
Excavation work for the building foundations has been completed and the structural steel work is now being installed. Entrance to the site from George St has been stripped and formed, the carpark hardstand installed and drainage has also been installed.
The carpark sub-base construction is well advanced with placement and shaping of basecourse to finish levels underway. Installation of steel framing to the gymnasium area is well underway and formwork to perimeter of amenities area is progressing.
The build phase is tracking to programme apart from the supply date for some building materials. The current one week delay to the overall programme is not on the critical path and is expected to be made up with time savings on other construction items.
Installation of power cabling and transformer to the Stadium site has been completed and livened.
Project fit-out items have been the subject of discussions with Te Kuiti High School and Game-On Charitable Trust representatives, aassisted by Sport Waikato, to improve understanding of scope and budget provision.

Construction is set to begin on the King Country Indoor Sports and Recreation Centre. On 9 February, a site blessing and turning of the sod ceremony at Te Kuiti High School marked a significant milestone for the community.
Under COVID-19 restrictions, kaumatua, TKHS Board of Trustees representatives, Waitomo District Council staff and contractors met onsite to officially commence the construction of the King Country Indoor Sports and Recreation Centre.
The blessing cleared the pathway for onsite work to begin at the high school.
The sports complex will be jointly owned by Ministry of Education, TKHS and WDC, however Council is responsible for building the facility and managing ongoing operations.
Apollo Projects Ltd has designed and will construct the complex. The Hamilton company specialises in the design and construction of sports stadiums and education centres, and has worked with Councils throughout New Zealand on various infrastructure projects.

Waitomo District Council formalised its commitment to a project that will see a multi-million dollar indoor sports complex constructed in Te Kuiti.
On 18 October 2021, on behalf of the Council, WDC Chief Executive Chris Ryan and Mayor John Robertson formally signed a partnership agreement with the Ministry of Education and the Te Kuiti High School Board for joint ownership of the proposed King Country Indoor Sports and Recreation Centre.
Ownership would be a shared arrangement between Council 65% and MOE and TKHS 35%.
Council will have responsibility for building the facility and managing ongoing operations.
A construction agreement was signed on Friday with Apollo Projects Ltd, the company which will design and construct the centre.
Apollo Projects Ltd specialises in the design and construction of sports stadiums and education centres, and has worked with Councils throughout New Zealand on various infrastructure projects.
Mr Robertson says the signing of the agreements culminates three months of negotiations between the parties.
